Often one of the more confusing body components on a factory Mitsubishi Evolution 9 is the vortex generator. Typically when people see this body part one may ask “what are those fin things on the back of the roof?” And if the correct answer is provided, why call it a vortex generator? It sounds like a mechanical component in your space ship.
Now days, it is almost common place to see Mitsubishi Evolution’s, Subaru STI’s, or other sport compact cars with a factory or aftermarket vortex generators on the rear of the roof.
Vortex generators do serve a purpose particularly with cars that have a rear spoiler. They help with flow separation control, and provide increased wing efficiency. They also decrease the co-efficiency drag, and help the flow path follow the contour of the surface. If anything else it is an aesthetic complement to the car.
At RallySport Direct we carry the OEM Vortex Generator for the 2015 WRX and STI. This means it is OEM quality, complete with simple installation, and is held on by double sided tape. An alcohol preparation pad is also provided with the vortex generator to prep the surface of the paint. Installation should be fairly simple. Check out the video below for more information.
