Here at RallySportDirect.com we enjoy every type of Subaru and still remember where it all started for many Subaru enthusiasts. With spring in the air, projects are once again coming out from hibernation for test drives and enjoyment. Today we had the honor of having two Cobb Tuning employees come down with their swapped GC’s that are monsters in the making.
The blue and black coupes feature GD WRX dash swaps along with full engine swaps.
Will’s black GC has an entire GD STi transplant which includes the complete wiring harness, 6-speed transmission, hubs, and of course, the motor. It is a wolf in sheep’s clothing to say the least. This project has been in the works for a good while now and is slowly nearing completion. Next up is a new bumper and paint job.
Dan’s blue GC features a WRX motor swap with a STi short block (he has something brewing up his sleeve 😉 ). Going for the classic Version 5/6 STi look, there is definitely also power to boot. There is no mistaking that Subaru should have given us the good Imprezas from the start.
The wagon is a 94 WRX that’s been imported from Japan. It is a project in the making at this point. With mild power upgrades and interior already addressed on the car, the next step is body work, suspension, and brakes.
Parts list on each car are seemingly endless but that’s a given with any in depth project 😉 With many new models that have come out since the GC has ceased production, many Subaru enthusiasts still can’t leave the classic chassis behind. At the end of the day, the GC chassis is what helped make Subaru the performance platform it is today!
